Create a new Pluggable Database using DBCA !!!

In this article, we will create a new Pluggable database using DBCA. Here we have one Container database already created.

Follow below steps to create a new multitenant PDB using DBCA.

Login as oracle user and run dbca

$ dbca

– Database Operation

DBCA - Database Operation

Select “Manage Pluggable Databases” and click on Next to continue.

DBCA - Manage Pluggable Databases

Select “Create a Pluggable Database” and click on Next to continue.

 

– Database List

DBCA - Database List

Select the Container database from the database list and enter SYS credentials of Container database.

 

– Create Pluggable Database

DBCA - Create Pluggable Database

Select “Create a new Pluggable Database” and click on Next to continue.

 

– Pluggable Database Options

DBCA - Pluggable Database Options

Specify “Pluggable Database Name”
Specify location of files as per your requirement
Create an Admin user (this is optional)

 

– Summary

DBCA - Summary

Verify all the values and click on Finish to start database creation.

This is the final screen showing that the database creation is completed successfully.

 

That’s it, we have created a new Pluggable database using dbca. Similarly, we can delete, configure and unplug a pluggable database under “Manage Pluggable Databases” screen.
